Image Acquisition Specialist

Satelytics is seeking a motivated individual with an interest in remote sensing and new technologies. This role will require you to work directly with image vendors, clients, and management to provide the best data for projects around the globe. This will include imagery searches, project feasibilities, tasking requests, and processing imagery. The role will require close collaboration with other team members to provide accurate and robust data. The successful candidate must have experience in working with and acquiring satellite imagery.

Job Duties

  • Determine archive image availability as required
  • Utilize shapefile and raster data to setup project areas-of-interest
  • Communicate requests to imagery vendors promptly and professionally
  • Investigate and evaluate new imagery types and data sources
  • Maintain a database of relevant active and upcoming imagery sources
  • Complete project-based cost analyses
  • Assist other scientists with automation and algorithm development including QAQC of workflow outputs and data delivery
  • Simplify complex scientific concepts to audiences of various backgrounds
  • Interface with clients as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Remote Sensing, Geoscience, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred; exceptional candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in another field and related work experience will be considered
  • 1-3 years experience working directly with remotely sensed data and/or GIS

Skills

  • Experience manipulating vector and raster data using GUI remote sensing and GIS software (e.g. QGIS, ENVI)
  • Knowledge of multispectral and hyperspectral data
  • Ability to clearly define and communicate requests and desired outcome
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office apps
  • A thorough understanding of image photogrammetry and radiometric calibration preferred
  • Skilled use of Google Earth preferred
  • Familiarity with AWS CLI and/or Azure preferred
