Key iPIPE Members Lead the Charge for Weekly Monitoring of the Entire Bakken Basin…

On May 20, iPIPE members invite the oil & gas community to a deep dive on their experiences. The event will be hosted by Jay Almlie, Principal Engineer, EERC, and Allan Adams, Chief Scientist, Satelytics.

Join us to examine the past three years of the intelligent Pipeline Integrity Program (iPIPE) with its members using satelytics.io, and dive into how, why, and where it can be applied — even question members on their experiences firsthand!

Here is the background on iPIPE:

So, what is next for the iPIPE consortium? A drive for weekly monitoring across the entire Bakken. The Bakken community — composed of producers, gathers, and transmission companies — is proposing weekly basin-wide monitoring. In this regard, Hess Corporation is a leading iPIPE consortium partner. Brent Lohnes, general manager in North Dakota for Hess, has been instrumental in the drive for weekly monitoring, and will provide insights around the program.

Yes, the Bakken community — composed of producers, gatherers, and transmission companies — is proposing another world first: weekly basin-wide monitoring. The company members will share the program-wide component costs, but benefit from their own imagery, analytics, and threat alerts individually. Each weekly data set will be monitored for the following challenges simultaneously, alerting field personnel within hours of data being captured.

The success of the Bakken experience led iPIPE in 2019 to expand the monitoring over a portion of the Permian Basin. iPIPE has become the gold standard in the oil & gas industry, demonstrating what technology to use, for what purpose, and its preparedness for field operations. Within a few hours of collecting satellite data from Airbus’ earth observation, Satelytics' software analyzes the data, sending out text and email alerts to iPIPE members. Customers can also login to the cloud, with 24/7/365 access to their data, analytics, imagery, and alerts.
