Project Scientist

Satelytics is seeking a self-driven, highly motivated remote sensing scientist to join our Professional Services Team. We seek leaders who wish to help us define a new market, applying geospatial analytics to a wide variety of energy industry challenges. We seek dedicated scientists who can help us extract new insights from a wide variety of remote sensing data sources.

This position contributes to the Professional Services Team in delivering products, coordinating project timelines and activities, and educating Satelytics' customers about our software platform and product delivery. It is an opportunity to be the face of Satelytics, working directly with customers, encouraging them to derive maximum value from use of our SaaS product.

This position also works with the Research and Development Team, supporting data mining and quality assurance/quality control for various geospatial data products.

The position is located on-site in Perrysburg, Ohio and reports to the Professional Services Team Manager.

Job Duties

  • Client communications:
    1. Introduce new clients to the Satelytics.io interface via virtual meetings
    2. Supply data delivery notifications and updates as analyses are completed
    3. Host live training sessions via in-person or virtual meetings
    4. Promptly address client questions and concerns
  • Data quality assurance:
    1. Ensure project deliverables meet client needs and exceed expectations
    2. Work with the Research and Development Team to supply accurately referenced and formatted data for in-house algorithm development
  • Collaborate with teams across Satelytics to ensure all clients' needs are being met promptly and proficiently
  • Explain remote sensing principles and how that translates to specific client deliverables
  • Aid other scientists in automation and algorithm development, including QA/QC workflows, image processing, and data delivery
  • Aid other Satelytics teams as needed
  • Report progress and needs to management
  • Maintain established data organization structures both in-house and within satelytics.io

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Remote Sensing, GIS, Data Analytics, Geology, Science, or related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in a professional setting

Skills

  • Proficient at public speaking and leading large and small groups either online or in-person
  • Ability to simplify complex scientific concepts to audiences of various backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Experience using GUI remote sensing and GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ENVI) to manipulate vector and raster data
  • Familiarity with remote sensing imagery
  • Ability to clearly define and communicate requests and desired outcomes
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office apps
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task diverse projects
