Project Scientist

Satelytics is looking for a Project Scientist to support the professional services team in delivering products, communicating and coordinating project timelines and activities, and educating Satelytics' customers about our software platform and product delivery details. Project Scientists will also be involved with Research and Development by supporting data mining and quality assurance/quality control for various geospatial data products. The ideal Project Scientist must be highly motivated, well organized, proficient in GIS software, and enjoy educating clients of an array of geospatial solutions. This position has tremendous potential for growth in the coming years.

Job Duties

  • Client communications:
    1. Introduce new clients to the interface via web meetings
    2. Supply data delivery notifications and updates as analyses are completed
    3. Host live training sessions via in-person or web meetings
    4. Promptly address client questions and concerns
  • Data quality assurance:
    1. Ensure project deliverables meet client needs and exceed expectations
    2. Work closely with the Research and Development team to supply accurately referenced and formatted data for in-house algorithm development
  • Collaborate with teams across Satelytics to ensure all clients' needs are being met promptly and proficiently
  • Explain basic remote sensing principles and how that translates to specific client deliverables
  • Aid other scientists in automation and algorithm development, including QAQC workflows, image processing, and data delivery
  • Aid other Satelytics teams as needed
  • Report progress and needs to management
  • Maintain established data organization structures both in-house and within


  • Bachelor's degree in Remote Sensing, GIS, Data Analytics, Geology, Science, or related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a professional setting
  • A desire to grow with the department in a fast-paced company atmosphere
  • Ability to work in-office at our Perrysburg location Monday through Friday


  • Proficient at public speaking and leading large and small groups either online or in-person
  • Ability to simplify complex scientific concepts to audiences of various backgrounds
  • Demonstrate professionalism in writing and speaking
  • Manage multiple, diverse projects simultaneously
  • Experience using GUI remote sensing and GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ENVI) to manipulate vector and raster data
  • Familiarity with remotely sensed imagery
  • Ability to clearly define and communicate requests and desired outcomes
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office apps
  • Adaptable in a deadline-driven environment
